March/April Update
REACH Johnson City Successful
WCQR’s Mike Perry and Brian Sumner made REACH Johnson City a great night at the Freedom Hall Arena. After the success of our first REACH event, in Tucson, AZ, we went to a smaller indoor venue and the evening was tremendous.
◊ Haley Wherry at First Priority recruited more than 100 volunteers from two dozen churches to help with counseling and connecting people to churches.
◊ 61 people responded to Peter’s clear message to 3600 people.
◊ Anthony Walton, Global Tribe founder, took the stage to share the vision.
◊ Along with Newsboys - December Radio, Vota, and Bread of Stone kept the audience rockin’.
Next Reach Event – Saginaw Michigan at the Dow Center, April 3, with Family Life Radio and Unity Christian Events www.unitychristianevents.com .
JOIN THE TRIBE TOUR RECRUITS MEMBERS TO FIGHT SPIRITUAL & PHYSICAL POVERTY
Global Tribe, launched in 1992 by Anthony Walton from his homeland New Zealand, has taken him around the world and now on tour with Newsboys around America.
◊ Anthony tells the everyone about Global Tribe and our work, especially in Baja, Mexico, India, and through REACH events. “The response on the road has been tremendous,” says Anthony. “People are responding to the need in the areas we work, and they want to personally take part in helping by supporting the work financially. Even in troubled times – people care about the poor and hurting.”
GET READY TO SERVE - BAJA TRIP COMING SOON!
◊ Another significant response on tour is the growing number of people wanting information on missions trips. “We get several people a night asking for information through the response cards, but quite a few cone to our table to get more information that night. We are planning a trip for August and will announce details soon. It is exciting to see so many wanting to go and serve.”
BAJA IS BOOMING – AND WE WILL GO IN AUGUST!
When Newsboys launched Global Tribe U.S. in 2007, they introduced Purple Book to our ministry partner there, Baja Christian ministries.
◊ Since then, 22,000 people have engaged in study of scripture through Purple Book, an inductive study of basic Christian principles designed to disciple new believers.
◊ There are now 5 area directors and more than 500 groups studying.
◊ Part of our relationship in Baja is building homes, classrooms, clinics, etc. Through trips with Global Tribe partners, we go to Baja and work along side Baja Bob Sanders and his team to build, evangelize, and support the work with people in great need.
Our next trip will be in August 2009, with specific dates, costs, and details forthcoming. Global Tribe founder Anthony Walton will lead the mission personally, and members of Newsboys will join the trip as they have in the past.
