Partners - Bands

Newsboys met up with longtime friend and Global Tribe founder Anthony Walton in Baja, Mexico. There they met Baja Bob and Baja Christian Ministries. By fall 2007, the band was committed to the work, and launched a U.S. Global Tribe, along with introducing Baja Bob to Purple Book, an inductive Bible study tool.

Since that launch, Newsboys have traveled to Baja with fans and friends on home building, ministry, an outdoor concert, and have sent scores of volunteers to help Bob do his work. They also introduced Purple Book, which has rapidly grown from a new introduction in late 2007 to more than 24,000 people and several hundred groups led by 5 regional directors growing in Christ together.

Through Global Tribe US, Newsboys also created a platform using their music and live show for an evangelistic event – which they named REACH. Each of the three events partnered with local radio and the church community to create a “Night of Music and Message.” The events are donation only, allowing cost to no longer be an obstacle. It is friendship evangelism at its best – opening the door to invite friends, family, co-workers, team mates, and more to come to a concert and leave having heard the gospel and having had an opportunity to respond that night. The response has been exciting:

11/08/08 - Tucson, AZ with Family Life Radio. 15,000 people, 600 responded to the Gospel, and 5 tons of food was collected for a local food pantry.

3/13/09 - Johnson City, TN with WCQR. 3600 people, 68 responded to the Gospel, and 3 tons of food was collected.

4/3/09 - Saginaw, MI with Family Life Radio. 4700 people, 76 responded to the Gospel, and 2 tons of food was collected.

We have 5 more stations looking for dates and a venue for fall REACH events.

The spring Newsboys tour, “Join the Tribe,” travelled the U.S. and Canada rock the community and Global Tribe founder Anthony Walton talks about the work of Global Tribe.
