Mexico
THE FACTS
Mexico has a population of 107 million. Approximately 60 million live below the poverty line with 24 million living in extreme poverty. Half of Mexico’s employed population make less than $2.50 a day. With no welfare system, these families have no homes and many parents are unable to support their children. THE TEAM: Baja Christian Ministries
Bob Sanders
President
Bob Sanders has been serving the poor of Mexico since 1984 when he led groups from Azusa Pacific University on short-term outreaches. In September 1991, he founded Baja Christian Ministries. Bob is an evangelist and a visionary. His commission is to build up and equip God’s people for works of service among the poor (Eph. 4: 11-12). His passion is to stir many into love and good deeds (Heb. 10:24-25), and to build a network of partners–a vanguard army–to reach Baja communities simultaneously for Jesus Christ. Isaiah 58 has been a scripture dear to Bob’s heart. This, Acts 20:20, and 2 Cor 1:10-11 are the foundation of this Ministry. Bob believes, “The poor have few earthly advocates, and believes the body of Christ, must be their voice and serve them through Christ’s love,” He sees his main role as sharing the vision of Baja Christian Ministries with groups and individuals throughout the United States and the world and networking partners. Part of that function is raising funds, provide oversight, networking partners, relationship building, Hebrews 10:24-25 communication, building in the multiplier and doing the work of evangelism in the communities amongst the US and Mexican groups. He is joined in this ministry with his wife, Janet, and four children: Rebekah, Joshua, Timothy, and Joseph.

Cheryl Walker
Operations Director
Cheryl Walker has served with Baja Christian Ministries for more than 14 years. She faithfully serves as BCM’s administrator and is the backbone of the daily Ministry operations. She schedules the team outreaches and coordinates the myriad of details necessary for U.S. and other groups outside of the US serving in Mexico. She resides in Chino Hills, California with her mother, daughter Jenny and granddaughter. She has 2 sons, Richard who is living in Frisco, TX and the other, Daniel, serving on our Mexico team in Baja, Mexico since 2005

Pastor Hector Rubio
Field Director
Hector Rubio is the BCM Mexico Field Construction overseer. Originally a recipient of one of the homes built through BCM in 1993, Hector has become a wise, diligent, organized, tireless and dedicated leader. He coordinates all of the BCM construction preparation in Mexico along with Cheryl Walker in California and leads many house building groups. Hector is soft-spoken, but has a great deal of wisdom and insight in structuring effective ministry in Mexico. Hector is a master group leader. With excellence he has trained many group leaders. He is quite skilled at applying enough pressure and enough confidence and encouragement in the groups he leads to build beautiful homes in a timely manner. Hector has also become an effective evangelist and often travels outside of the Tijuana area on extended outreaches to penetrate Baja with the gospel. Hector, his wife Lorena, five children, and four grandchildren, soon to be five live in the community of Pipilia.

Pastor Alvin Morales
Pastor Alvin Morales, and his wife Patti, planted a church in Valle Verde in 1993 and received a BCM home. BCM groups, among others, helped construct the church building and medical clinic. Through God’s blessing, and faithful work by his servants Alvin and Patti, the church has grown to 500 members and Alvin plans to plant other churches as God leads. Once on the peripheral edge of Tijuana, Valle Verde has undergone tremendous change and growth, and the area remains an outreach focus for project groups. Presently, he is helping with a church plant in Diez de Mayo. He and members of his congregation are major team members in our crusades in various communities.

Pastor Daniel Nunez
Pastor Daniel Nunez was born and raised in Tijuana. He has been pastoring a church in the community of El Nino since 2001. Daniel has been working with BCM since 2003 as a volunteer. Then Daniel was hired full time in 2007. Daniel believes we can reach all of Tijuana with the Gospel. He currently meets house building groups and works in evangelism and discipleship ministry with BCM groups. Daniel is married with two teenage children.

Pastor Feliciano Carrasco
Feliciano has been involved with BCM for over a year in different projects in the communities where we have been actively building and evangelizing. BCM hired him and he serves in the BCM Discipleship Program. He is currenlty overseeing follow up in Region #3 on which he follows up on the progress of Purple Book Group Leaders.
He also pastors a church called “Centro Misionero Misericordia” in the community of Terrazas Del Valle and has been responsible for planting two other Churches in El Florido and Altiplano. He lives with his wife of 22 years and their 6 children in Valle Verde.

Pastor Niko Rodriguez
Niko was hired in 2007 as the first full time BCM field staff for the ”Baja Discipleship Program”. He oversees Region #1. He also pastors a church called ”La Montaña De Jireh” in the community of Rojo Gomez. As of August 2008 Niko is presently following up on 93 purple book pastors and leaders which represent approximately three thousand people in his region. Approximately 50 groups have finished the Biblical Foundations Workbook which represent approximately an additional 1500 people. He is also actively involved in evangelism and outreach ministry on most weekends alongside Bob Sanders and Daniel Nuñez as they lead people to the Lord, Niko then signs up new purple book leaders to follow up on these new converts. Also along with members of his congregation he holds open air preaching meets on a weekly basis in three different colonias near Rojo Gomez in the evenings. He has 6 children and lives with his wife of 14 years in their recently constructed BCM house.

Victor Vasquez
Victor Vasquez is the second full time BCM “Baja Discipleship Plan” staff member in Mexico hired on in January 2008. He oversees Region #2. As of August 2008, Victor is presently following up on 78 groups, and the number of groups increases every week. 34 groups have graduated in his region which represent approximately 1000 graduates of the Biblical Foundation Workbook.
Victor is an evangelist and has been actively involved in helping out and preaching at various rehab centers and Churches in the Tijuana area since 2002. He lives with his wife of 11 years and their 3 children in the community of Francisco Villa.

Paul (Pablito) Anschuetz
Serving as a school teacher in San Diego county Paul came down as a member of a house building team from his Church. He was impacted dramatically and started to serve as a volunteer house building contractor and group leader on a weekly basis. As of June 2008 he was hired full time as a construction group leader and a whole lot more. We are still in the process of raising his monthly support. “Constantly amazed at his Father’s blessing in giving such a rich occupation, Paul is quick to love (John 13:35), joke, smile, and cry. Everyday his joy is meeting new brothers and sisters that he will know forever and serving the people who are desperate in Baja, Mexico. Christ is made known, and he loves to be a small part of that! What a great God we serve!
Paul also occasionally preaches in the churches around Tijuana.

Pastor Vicente Morales
Vicente is our newest BCM staff member in Mexico. He is also working on the Baja Discipleship Program. He oversees Region # 5. As of August 2008 he currently has 11 group leaders to follow up on and is signing up many new leaders very quickly partly due to the fact that he presently holds the position of Vice President in the “Pastors Alliance” of the city of Tijuana.
Vicente was also a member of the International Gideons Society for 26 years and on several occasions held the post of President in the Tijuana region. Vicente leads a congregation called “Every One Must Know” in the Community of Fortin De Las Flores. His congregation is actively and directly involved in providing food to the poorest of the poor. Vicente is a man whose vision is to see the entire city of Tijuana proclaim that Jesus Christ Is Lord.
